Five-Year Run of Domino Magazine for Sale!!

Just a quick, shameless plug: I am selling all of my back issues of Domino Magazine, not because I necessarily want to but because I need some extra money. They have been selling quite well on Ebay, so I'm giving it a go! If you or anyone you know is looking for issues, I am selling a large lot of 32 magazines, running from the 2005 premiere issue to the last issue in March. I am only missing 4 issues total from those 5 years. These have been well-loved and I hope someone else will get as much inspiration from them as I have!!

Here is the Ebay link to my listing.

Kate Moss: Topshop... and Curves?

OK, she is still a skinny-mini, but look: she now has an adorable little belly, and some hips and thighs. I guess what I'm trying to say is that beautiful Kate is looking stunning and healthy! No matter what, I've always secretly loved her...*Swoon*

Check out this Interview for New York Magazine for more on her new womanly figure and her Her Topshop line for the states...coming very soon!

Monday Mischief: Ruminations on Selling Vintage...and a Spring Snow Storm

Good afternoon dears!! What a slow start I've had this morning...that is the nature of Mondays, I suppose. We had insane weather here this weekend -- a mini blizzard and "thunder snow." WTF? And today it is 65 degrees. It is all so confusing, and my biological clock is completely out of whack! I hope all of our lovely redbud trees will keep their bloom! Needless to say, I had plenty of time this weekend to think about a new venture I've been considering: selling vintage clothing and accessories online. Many moons ago I sold on Ebay, but the general environment there was sort of nasty and the fees started getting higher and higher...I gave it up once I started back to grad school full time. While I was studying for exams, I just didn't have time to get any kind of time-consuming venture off the ground, but now things have slowed a bit [and I really need some extra money], so it seems like as good a time as any to give it another go! My sis in Brooklyn passed on the word about Market Publique, a new online vintage marketplace. They are just starting out, but they already seem to have some interesting sellers with a good eye. She encouraged me to try selling on there, but I'm a little worried about the traffic to that site being low since it is so new. But, then again, it could be a good idea to get in while it is just starting out...what do you think? Has anyone had any experience shopping or selling with them?? Of course my other option is Etsy. But, I've also heard that because of their lack of promotion on the vintage front, that it can be hard to get a good customer base or get noticed. Again, I would love to know what my reader's experiences have been with vintage on Etsy?? Would you recommend it? Do you shop for vintage on there?
Well, thanks so much for listening and for any input you might have on this!!
Here are some of the covetable items on Market Publique right now [you should definitely check it out!!]:

Chocks Away Old Boy!

I intended to post these weeks ago! Oops! This is definitely one of my favorite fashion editorials in ages [by the master of surrealist photography, Tim Walker]. His interpretation of a 40's/war theme is so bizarre... I like the way he imagines the collision of the airplane with the home -- as if he is pointing out that nowhere was safe from the ravages of the war. I am also intrigued at how he imagines the woman in the trenches...perhaps I am over-thinking it, but it is rather genius!

What is your take on it??
Have a fanciful weekend my friends!!

French Nautical: My Stripe Fetish

I haven't done an outfit post in a while...

This is what I wore to work yesterday-- fairly classic and simple. I was excited to receive my striped top yesterday from LL Bean [not a place I usually shop, mind you]. I have probably purchased 3 or 4 similar tops in the past two years alone, because I clearly have an obsession with French nautical stripes, and I am always on the lookout for the perfect one. I decided to buy this one because it is made of a thick-knit, high quality cotton [and also because I got chocolate on my favorite one...grrrrr]. Do you have a certain clothing item or accessory that you find yourself buying over and over again??
I have also been bringing out my Levi's light-wash denim jacket for a few weeks now -- thank goodness I kept it from...ahem...the early 90's.

[Silk blend cropped trousers, Simply Vera Wang. Black suede wedges, Nine West. Silk scarf, vintage. Levi's jean jacket. Sunglasses, Urban Outfitters.]

More classic, striped perfection:

Diamond Dogs: Rock Gods of 70's Glam

My boyfriend and I watched 70's glam rock concert videos on YouTube for an inordinate amount of time last night, and he expressed his firm belief that the best fashion and music EVER emerged in or around 1972. While I'm not sure I agree completely [it would be a 3-way tie between the 1920's, 1970's and the 1980's for me...], I do have to admit that two of the sexiest men to have shared their vocal talents and tight pants with the world were products of the early 70's glam phenomenon: Brian Ferry [of Roxy Music] and David Bowie. In any case, I have decided to take a moment to bow down and thank Roxy Music, T Rex, New York Dolls, and Bowie for what they gave us:

♥The aforementioned tight pants.
♥ Shiny lips...well, shiny anything, for both men and women.
♥ High-heel platforms.
♥ Bare chests as a fashion-statement.
♥ Feathers, fur, and sequins for daywear.
♥Animal prints.
♥Expressive makeup [i.e. lighting bolts]
♥Leotards, again for men or women.
♥Androgyny!!

Some Glam-tastic inspiration for you...

Brian Ferry was still dreamy, even when he toned down the glam and started wearing his signature ties:

And, need I mention Roxy Music had the best album covers??

T Rex, bringing the 80's metal hair before the 80's ever happened:

The New York Dolls took it all the way -- one part machismo, one part drag queen:

And of course, the sexiest man to have ever fell to earth ... [images from the Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Pinups, and Diamond Dogs eras...]

This photo just leaves me speechless, simply put:
